What is the YSD AR Viewer?
The YSD AR Viewer is a private platform developed by Yellow Sprocket Design to allow industrial clients to visualize their 3D models in augmented reality directly from their iPhone or iPad, with no app installation required.
Where Autodesk Drive or a simple PDF shows you a model on screen, the YSD AR Viewer lets you place your assembly at real scale in your physical environment. A water treatment skid, a pump, a heat exchanger visualized full size on your jobsite or in your boardroom.
How it works
The pipeline is fully integrated into Yellow Sprocket Design's CAD workflow:
01
Inventor Modeling
The assembly is modeled in Autodesk Inventor. A Shrinkwrap per sub-assembly eliminates unnecessary interior geometry.
02
3ds Max Optimization
The model is imported into 3ds Max, industrial PBR materials are applied via the YSD palette, then exported as an optimized GLB (<25MB).
03
AR Delivery
The GLB file is uploaded to the secure client portal. The client signs in, loads the model, and taps "AR" to place it in their environment.
Use Cases
Industrial augmented reality addresses real needs throughout a project lifecycle:
Clearance Validation
Place your equipment at real scale in the available space before fabrication. Avoid surprises during installation.
On-Site Client Presentation
Present equipment directly on the installation site. Your client sees exactly what they will receive before it's built.
Design Review
Inspect the assembly at full scale with your team. Identify access, maintenance, and ergonomics issues early.
Visual Documentation
Capture photos and videos of the AR model in real context for your deliverables, proposals, or presentations.

Access & Privacy
The YSD AR Viewer is a private, invitation-only platform. Each client receives personal credentials giving them access only to their own models. Files are securely hosted on Amazon S3 and are never publicly accessible.
A demo account is available to explore the platform with representative industrial models. Contact Philip Rivard to request your demo credentials.
